Good Morning!! Welcome back to school. Next week we will begin checking out books in grades 1-4. We will begin by checking out only 1 book. Please help your child remember to bring their library book back on their library day. Thank you for your help.
Our book fair will be held May 2nd to May 9th.
Fine Arts Night - Friday, May 2nd. Come join us for some fun. There will be lots of different activities and then you can stop by the library and browse the book fair. Muffins with Mom - Tuesday, May 6th from 7:30 to 8:35. I hope to see a lot of moms at Willard South eating muffins. :) Each year the students in grades 1-3 vote on their favorite Show Me Nominee. The students in grade 1-3 in the state of Missouri have chosen the following winners.
1st place - Painter and Ugly 2nd place - A Book for Black-Eyed Susan 3rd place - Charlie the Ranch Dog Mark Twain Award Winners (grades 4-8) 1st place - Unwanted 2nd place - Hidden 3rd place - Pie Each year students in grades 1-3 vote on their favorite book out of the Show Me Nominees for that school year. We recently voted and Willard South students picked Painter and Ugly as their favorite Show Me Nominee. Painter and Ugly, two sled dogs who are inseparable best friends, are put on different teams for the Junior Iditarod, but they manage to find their way back to one another for the big race. Our second place winner is A Book for Black-Eyed Susan While traveling along the Oregon Trail, ten-year-old Cora and her newborn baby sister suffer the loss of their mother and are separated, but Cora stitches a book to tell the dark-eyed baby of their journey and family. I encourage you to ask your child to bring home any of the Show Me Nominees and read them together. I hope each of you had a wonderful spring break and had the chance to relax and read a good book. Encourage your child to take the time to sit outside and enjoy a good book.
Happy Monday Morning! Hopefully, we will make it the entire week with no weather problems. The students in library are learning about the following things.
PreK- Alphabet letter A K - Snake unit 1- Finishing up our Show-Me Nominees 2- Beginning a unit on horses 3- Completing our President Unit and cursive letter G 4-Continuing our unit on Westward Expansion. It is great to be back and on schedule. It seems like we have been gone from school forever. The next few weeks we will be finishing up the Show Me Nominees in first grade. The students are excited about getting to be a part of picking the winner. In Second grade we have started our Native American Unit. Third graders are now learning cursive. We will be learning the entire cursive alphabet. So ask your child to show you what they have learned thus far. Fourth graders will begin their Lewis and Clark Unit next week. Hope each of you had the opportunity to read some good books over the break. I enjoyed several.
